What is an FAA Designated Airworthiness Representative (DAR) and what services they provide?
An FAA Designated Airworthiness Representative (DAR) is a private individual who has been designated by the Federal Aviation Administration with the authority to perform examination, inspection, and testing services necessary to the issuance of Type, Production and Airworthiness certificates / approvals. They must possess aeronautical knowledge, experience, and meet the qualification requirements of FAA Order 8000.95.
A DAR is responsible for upholding the FAA’s standards. A DAR is under no obligation to certify anything that does not meet the requirements of the Code of Federal Regulations and FAA policy. By contracting a DAR, the client establishes the time and place of the inspection and frees the client from being at the mercy or time constraints of the FAA personnel.
FAA Designated Airworthiness Representative (DAR) services help you meet your needs when you need a liaison with the FAA. The function codes below show the services that are available.
